Experience the incredible scale and detail of these contemporary works in the indoor-outdoor exhibition On Sharks & Humanity

Internationally acclaimed curator Huang Du brings us On Sharks & Humanity - a thought-provoking contemporary art exhibition about shark protection showcasing work from some of China’s leading contemporary artists.

The Sydney exhibition will also feature works by Australian Indigenous artists that explore sharks as totems and our relationship to them, alongside photographs and artefacts from leading ocean environmentalist Valerie Taylor, who with her late husband Ron Taylor, transformed themselves from spear fishers to shark protectors.

"We kill millions of sharks every year. Today many species are under severe threat. Sharks are long-lived and slow to reproduce. When species are decimated, they are slow to recover, even when environmental action plans are in place."

Valerie Taylor - Shark expert, diver, conservationist

On Sharks & Humanity was conceived by Parkview Arts Action China and launched in Monaco in 2014, and has since travelled to Moscow, Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Volunteer Exhibition Officers Wanted
We’re seeking volunteers with a background in visual arts or ocean sciences to assist with On Sharks & Humanity.  Volunteers will help invigilate and communicate this beautiful exhibition, and assist in the facilitation of guided tours, talks and art-making programs.
Interested? Head HERE for more information and to apply

Please note: This exhibition uses art to raise awareness of threats to sharks populations. Several artworks and films contain images of hooked or dead sharks and the practice of shark finning, content visitors might find disturbing. Parental guidance is recommended. One art film features nudity. It is in a separate room of its own with a parental guidance sign outside.
