Every school holidays, we host full-day workshops for kids to learn creative skills. Aimed at kids aged 8-14, courses include photography, animation, print-making and videography. These summer holidays join us for two 2-day workshops in photography and videography, or a 1-day workshop on claymation.

Photo Pros – 2 day Workshop

Tuesday 15 – Wed 16 January 2019,  10am – 4pm

Take your photography skills to the next level in this 2 day intensive course. Be inspired by the museum's harbourside surrounds as you go on outdoor photo shoots and master the art of shooting dark indoor spaces, moving subjects, macro photography and more. Learn to use manual modes on a digital SLR camera as well as photo editing skills. Then, have your finished work displayed in a special exhibition at the museum!


Claymation Creations

 Monday 21 January, 10am – 4pm

Discover how to produce your own stop-motion and clay animations inspired by our current exhibitions in this fun-filled 1-day workshop. Create your own animation to share and have your work featured on the museum’s YouTube channel. 


 Reporting Live from the Abyss - 2 day TV presenting Workshop

 Wed 22 – Thurs 23 January, 10am – 4.30pm

Create and star in your own imaginative TV segments inspired by our Summer exhibitions! Learn clever techniques in green-screen, scripting, directing, acting and film-making as you produce your own creative digital stories. then, have your finished work displayed for family and friends in a special-event cinema screening.

General information

  • Arrive in the museum foyer for registration 5–10 minutes prior to the program.

  • Parents/carers will be required to sign permission forms on the day.

  • Participants are fully supervised for this program.

  • Participants should bring their own lunch/snacks.

  • All equipment for the workshop is provided.

  • Wear suitable clothing, sturdy shoes and sun protection for outdoors
